The Refugee Protection Division (RPD) has issued a practice notice which states that it is now scheduling virtual hearings for all refugee protection claims. Claimants who prefer to attend their hearing at an Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada office can request that the RPD book an on-site hearing.
This approach will ensure greater access to justice for refugee claimants, while continuing to protect the health and safety of all participants during the pandemic.
